Two Stars in the Milky Way (1931)

This romantic drama, directed by Dongshan Shi, stars Law-Lin Tsz and Yan Jin, with Zhanfei Gao, Juanjuan Ye and Jiqun Liu. This film about two actors working in the Chinese motion picture industry gives a historical perspective on film production while presenting a pleasing love story.

In case of possible confusion, you can tell who the film director is because he wears a pith helmet and carries a megaphone.

This DVD-R edition has been mastered from good to very-good 16mm reduction print materials. Not surprisingly, the contains a .some dust, more speckling, schmutz, processing flaws, fine vertical scratches, and other print flaws.

The film is accompanied by a music score composed and performed on synthesizers by Toshiyuki Hiraoka. Often abruptly edited, the music is simply composed and does get repititious.

Supplemental material includes A Spray of Plum Blossoms (1931) directed by Wancang Bu and starring Ling-yu Ruan.
