          | John Bengtson has done a thorough job of researching this large chunk of film location archeology. Aided by historical photographs, maps, and stills and motion picture footage from films made by Buster Keaton, Bengtson has pieced together an unusual historical document. Silent Echoes will seize readers for hours, losing them in a world of yesteryear, guiding them on a hunt through a Los Angeles (Hollywood specifically) long ago lost to progressive urban rebuilding. Or so one might assume. Bengtson shows us that the Hollywood of Keaton’s time is waiting to be rediscovered by the patient and observant. We highly recommend this book to all.
