American Film Manufacturing Company, Incorporated, was formed by exchange owners who could no longer obtain films for rental and distribution. The Chicago company was initially staffed by managers and personnel from the Essanay Film Manufacturing Company. The company became American Film Company, Incorporated, in 1915.

Beauty Comedies was a brand name for the company’s series of short comedy films initiated in 1914.
